DES MOINES – Freight Train has run over the record of Big Boar at the Iowa State Fair.

The Yorkshire boar tipped the scales on Thursday at 1,259 pounds. That’s 13 pounds over the previous record, which had stood since 1993.

Freight Train is owned by three brothers from Webster City — Mike, John and Jeff Cormaney.

Jeff Cormaney says they feed him “good old Iowa corn and soybeans.”

The Cormaney brothers also showed last year’s winning Big Boar, which weighed 1,203 pounds. Champions are not allowed to defend their crown.
