OKOBOJI, Iowa — A Council Bluffs man has walked away from a plane crash at the Spirit Lake Airport.

Authorities say Bill McGinn was flying a 1960 Beechcraft Bonanza from the Omaha, Neb. area to Spirit Lake when the small plane crashed Sunday evening.

Officials with the Arnolds Park and Okoboji Fire and Rescue says that McGinn’s plane had electrical problems and he lost communication about 10 minutes from the Spirit Lake airport.

As the plane touched down, the landing gear buckled and the propellor hit the ground.

McGinn was the only person on the plane. About $40,000 in damage was reported to the plane.
