The ISU women’s track team was well-represented in two different meets this weekend. The distance runners made the short trip south to Drake for the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake Stadium, while the sprinters trekked to Arizona State for the Sun Angel Invitational.

The Cyclone distance runners were able to place second, third and fourth in the 5,000-meter run. Freshman Stacey Thiel led the group through the cold and rain with a time of 18 minutes, 20.78 seconds for second place. Coming in behind were junior Mackenzie Madison and sophomore Brittany Rover. Madison was clocked at a time of 18 minutes, 53.60 seconds for third, while Rover finished fourth at 19 minutes, 1.41 seconds.

While the distance runners were battling the harsh weather, the ISU sprinters were soaking up the sun in Arizona, and they made the most of the warm weather with a number of athletes running personal-best times.

Freshman Ines Fischer set a new personal best in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 15.57 seconds. Sophomore Lashawn Wright set a personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.99. Junior Leia Jackson recorded two personal bests, one in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.47 seconds and in the 200 with a time of 25.56 seconds.
