The Cyclones women’s basketball program reached its 500th victory Friday night against the Montana State Bobcats in front of nearly 10,000 people at Hilton Coliseum.

The team jumped out to a 16-1 lead early in the game and never looked back. The final score was 76-50 and the game was never close. The Cyclones led 37-20 at the half and at one point the score was 52-24, their largest lead was 31 points with 12:17 remaining in the game.

Four Cyclones reached double figures in scoring, Denae Stuckey, 10, Heather Ezell, 15, Nicky Wieben, 16 and Kelsey Bolte, 12. Arguably the most impressive stat line though belonged to junior Amanda Nisleit, who was one point shy of a double-double, finishing with nine points and 12 rebounds in 29 minutes of action.

The Cyclones (4-1) shot 47 percent from the field and their stellar defense throughout the game held the Bobcats (2-3) to an abysmal 34 percent, including 4-22 from behind the arc.

Wednesday night the Hy-Vee’s Cy-Hawk series will once again be called upon when the Cyclones take on their in-state rivals the Iowa Hawkeyes at 7 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum.
