The ISU soccer team wrapped up its regular season on Friday with a 2-2 draw against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Jordan Bishop and Stephanie Kaphingst each scored first-half goals against Coach Hornbacher’s alma mater. The draw with Nebraska gives the Cyclones an 8-6-4 regular season record with a 4-4-2 record in Big 12 play.

“It was a good game,” Hornbacher said in a press release. “Nebraska is a talented team that came to compete in its last game. Their record does not indicate the strength of their team. I have a lot of respect for John Walker. He had his team ready to play and prepared a good game plan to go against us. Both teams had chances late and, overall, it was a very competitive, physical game.”

With the tie and an Oklahoma State victory on Thursday night, the Cyclones have garnered the eighth seed in the Big 12 Tournament and will play No. 1 seed Texas A&M at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in San Antonio.

The Cyclones will be looking to avenge a loss to the Aggies in the regular season, a 1-0 decision that saw the Cyclones play the then-third-ranked Aggies hard for 90 minutes and created several scoring chances, but were unable to capitalize.
