Guillermo Gonzalez, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, is appealing the denial of his tenure to the Iowa Board of Regents.

According to an article on the Discovery Institute’s Web site, Gonzalez filed a notice with the president’s office on June 19 that he would appeal the denial of his tenure to the Board of Regents. Gonzalez is a senior fellow at the Center for Science and Culture, a Discovery Institute program.

According to the article, the appeal will be in an ongoing process for the next couple of months.

Gonzalez was denied tenure in March and appealed the decision to President Gregory Geoffroy. Geoffroy upheld his decision last month.

Many who support Gonzalez feel he was denied tenure because he is a supporter of the intelligent design theory.
