Feel like dancing?

Practically every Friday evening this summer, the ISU Ballroom Dance Club holds a social in the Memorial Union.

The social is free to students and nonstudents alike.

The first social is Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. for anyone who is interested in some stress-free, traditional dancing.

Carl Mize, faculty advisor for the club and associative professor of natural resource ecology, stressed how this social is a fun, free way for people to get together and ballroom dance.

“We welcome people from ages 3 to 100,” Mize said. “We offer a lot of different traditional dances, such as the waltz, cha-cha, swing, plus the salsa.”

Mark Mehl, club secretary and treasurer and graduate student in engineering, often serves as the club’s disc jockey.

“I’d expect 12 to 15 people at any given moment during the summer, mainly consisting of graduate students and faculty,” Mehl said. “I expect 20 total, due to the most people are off on summer vacation.”
