WBB: Team records first win ever at Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) – Megan Ronhovde scored 18 points to lead Iowa State to a 72-68 victory over Texas Tech on Thursday night.

Lyndsey Medders scored 16 for the Cyclones (22-7, 10-6 Big 12) and Toccara Ross had 10 rebounds as Iowa State got its first victory ever in Lubbock.

The Cyclones had 11 3-pointers in the game, just short of their season high of 14 3-pointers.

Tech came close to pulling ahead when LaVonda Henderson had a steal and tied the game at 66-66 with jumper with 2:29 left, but Iowa State’s Nicky Wieben got a basket at 2:02. Iowa State led the rest of the game.

Alesha Robertson had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds for Texas Tech (15-15, 6-10).

Henderson got 19 points for Tech, her season high, and Jordan Murphree added 11.

Kristy Curry earned her fourth technical foul of the season after arguing a call with the referee late in the second half.

Iowa State lead 37-35 at the half as Heather Ezell hit the Cyclones’ eighth 3-pointer of the half at the buzzer. Iowa State averages seven 3-pointers a game.
