IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa senior point guard Jeff Horner has been listed as day-to-day after suffering a left knee injury in the 12th-ranked Hawkeyes’ 67-63 overtime loss at Northern Iowa Tuesday night.

Horner underwent an MRI on Wednesday. His status for Friday night’s game at Iowa State is uncertain.

Horner slipped with 2:12 left in the second half while trying to cover UNI’s Ben Jacobson at the 3-point line.

Horner lay on the floor clutching his left knee as Jacobson buried a 3-pointer that gave the Panthers a 53-52 lead.

He spent the rest of the game on the bench with an ice pack on the injured knee.

Without Horner directing the Hawkeyes’ offense, Iowa (7-2) was outscored 11-7 in overtime and lost at UNI as a ranked team for the third straight time.

Iowa officials said they aren’t allowed to provide further details about Horner’s condition because of rules protecting student-athlete privacy.

Horner is averaging 12 points and a team-high 7.2 assists per game this season.

An honorable mention All-Big Ten pick in 2004-2005, Horner is the only Iowa player to total more than 1,000 points, 400 rebounds and 400 assists for his career.
