Iowa State golf tied for eighth after first round at Bulls Bay

The Iowa State men’s golf team wrapped up round one of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Invitational this afternoon. 

The Cyclones ended round one in eighth place out of 15 teams.

Iowa State shot 1 under for the round (287), tying with Duke and West Virginia.

Iowa State is one of eight teams at the tournament that currently rank in the top-40 in GolfStat’s rankings.

Missouri and the host team South Carolina both lead the pack after round one, both schools shooting 9 under.

The biggest performance of the round for the Cyclones came from junior Tripp Kinney, who sits in 5th place on the individual leaderboard. 

Kinney shot minus 3 (69) and was the only Cyclone with no bogies in the first round.

Iowa State got another solid first round from sophomore Lachlan Barker.

Barker shot 1 under with a team-best five birdies in the first round.
