Beardshear Hall was constructed in 1906 and serves as the administration building at Iowa State University.

David Wrobel, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma, was named the fourth finalist to fill the role of provost, a position to be filled in the summer.

Wrobel will visit campus Monday and Tuesday, participating in a campus forum at 3 p.m. Monday in the Alliant Energy-Lee Liu Auditorium in Howe Hall.

Wrobel earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kent (Canterberry, United Kingdom) in 1985, before receiving his Ph.D. in American intellectual history from Ohio University in 1991. Wrobel has served as the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma since 2017 and has been a professor at various universities since 1990.

If selected, Wrobel would replace Provost Jonathan Wickert. Wickert will remain at Iowa State as a professor in engineering after he steps down June 30.

The visit consists of meetings with the search committee, President Wendy Wintersteen, enrollment management, members of the Professional and Scientific Council, Faculty Senate, Student Government and Graduate and Professional Student Senate; the visit will also include a campus tour.

Wrobel is the last remaining candidate to visit campus, with the other candidates also visiting in the month of April.

Information regarding candidates and their visits to campus, including a link to the candidate feedback form, is posted and updated on the Office of the President website.
