Woman reports assault in Lot S-4

An ISU student reported to ISU Police she had been physically assaulted in stadium Lot S-4 Monday.

The student, whose name is being withheld by ISU Police while the case is under investigation, said she was assaulted after parking her car in Lot S-4, on the east side of Jack Trice Stadium at 10:30 p.m. Monday.

The woman began to exit her car as a male approached her from behind and threw her to the ground, said ISU Police Capt. Gene Deisinger.

The suspect “struck the woman in the face,” according to a statement issued by ISU Police. No weapon was displayed in the attack, the statement said.

The woman told police the suspect fled the area on foot when another vehicle drove past, Deisinger said. The woman then got back into her car and drove away.

No injuries were reported that required medical attention, Deisinger said.

He said it is too early to speculate if this incident is related to the sexual assault reported to have occurred early Sunday morning near Friley Hall, but that there are some similarities between the cases.

In the Friley Hall case, an Ames-area resident reported being struck in the head and sexually assaulted. ISU Police searched Lot S-4 and the area where the assault occurred, but were unable to locate a suspect.

“We will be increasing patrols throughout the campus,” Deisin-ger said in reference to the assaults.

Deisinger encourages people to walk in well-lit areas, either in a group or with another person, and to be constantly aware of their surroundings.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity or has any information regarding either assault case should call ISU Police at 294-4428.
