Cowboy Ball is Friday

Members of the ISU community looking for “Wrangler butts” Friday will have to head out to the ISU Rodeo Club’s annual spring event.

The Rodeo Club’s Cowboy Ball will take place at the Best Western Starlite Village, 2601 E. 13th St.

The Cowboy Ball will consist of a banquet and a program to recognize outstanding members, said Morgan Muhlenbruch, publicity chair for the Rodeo Club. Other activities will include a silent auction, door prizes and the crowning of the new Rodeo Queen, said Crystal Schumacher, chairwoman of the Cowboy Ball.

“This is our chance to promote the club and recognize our club members,” said Schumacher, sophomore in agricultural education. “It is also a chance to enjoy our accomplishments of the past year.”

More than 60 people have already reserved a seat for the banquet, up from last year’s attendance of 30, said Muhlenbruch, senior in animal science.

“The main reason that I am going is to have fun and meet new people,” said Jessica Edge, junior treasurer of the club and freshman in animal science. “The ball also gives me a chance to correspond with alumni members of the club as well as Animal Science faculty and staff.”

Club members will be selling tickets to the dance 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday in front of Lush Auditorium in Kildee Hall. The cost of the tickets is $5 per person or $8 per couple. The banquet will start at 6:30 p.m. and the dance will begin at 8 p.m., ending at midnight.

“The overall purpose of the ball is for people to have a good time with the club members and College of Agriculture students,” Schumacher said. “And it is a chance to check out the Wrangler butts.”
