On Oct. 24, the Daily reported that average faculty pay at Iowa State is in last place among peer universities. Coming on the heels of recently announced tuition hikes and the cutting of the men’s swimming and baseball teams, this was most troubling for those of us who care about educational standards and values.

Such clear signs of downward spiral notwithstanding, Iowa State can take solace in the fact that its men’s basketball coach is very well paid indeed.
