About $50,000 worth of LSD was seized from four people on Welch Avenue following an undercover investigation by the Central Iowa Drug Task Force.

The task force seized 5,000 hits of LSD – d-lysergic acid diethylamide – from four Wisconsin residents early Thursday morning in the 400 block of Welch Avenue, said Capt. John Tinker of the Department of Public Safety.

“The arrests and seizures were the result of a three-month undercover investigation of illegal drug trafficking in central Iowa,” said Tinker, manager of the Central Iowa Drug Task Force.

Jason Humbach, 20, and Daniel Welsch, 19, both of Madison, Wis., and Casey Bagley, 25, and Jennifer Sligh, 25, both of Stoughton, Wis., were arrested and charged with delivery of LSD of more than 10 grams and failure to affix the Iowa drug tax stamp, he said.

All four arrested were taken to Story County Jail following the seizure.

A Story County official said the four are currently at the jail being held on $85,000 cash or security bond.

Tinker said this helps end the task force’s investigation in the area.

“This pretty much accumulated the investigation that we had on this LSD activity,” he said.

Tinker said delivery of LSD of more than 10 grams is a special class B felony, which carries a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison and fine of up to $1 million.

The failure to affix the Iowa drug tax stamp is a class D felony which carries a maximum sentence of five years and $7,500 fine.

Last month the drug task force seized 540 hits of LSD from an apartment at 410 Welch Ave. Joshua Peters, junior in mechanical engineering, was arrested March 23 for possession of controlled substances and seven charges were filed against him.
