Three Cyclones were selected in the NFL draft this weekend.

All-Big 12 defensive lineman Reggie Hayward was the first Cyclone taken. He went in the third round to the Denver Broncos. Hayward was the 89th player taken overall.

Cyclone signal-caller Sage Rosenfels was the 109th player taken in the draft. The Washington Redskins took him in the fourth round.

The New York Jets took another defensive lineman, James Reed, with the 206th pick overall.

Hayward and Reed were one and two, respectively, in tackles for Iowa State during the 2000 campaign.

Hayward led the team with 90 total tackles, 10 for a loss. He also took down the quarterback a team-high seven times on his way to earning first-team All-Big 12 honors.

Reed finished on Hayward’s heels with 86 tackles, six of those were for a loss. Reed had three sacks in 2000.

Rosenfels had a solid season as he led the team to its first-ever bowl win over Pittsburgh, 37-29 at the Insight.com Bowl.

Rosenfels completed almost 52 percent of his passes as he hit 172 out 333 throws. He passed for 2298 yards and eight touchdowns. He threw 12 interceptions on the year.

Rosenfels also proved to be a threat on the ground gaining 445 yards and scoring two touchdowns.
