Ticket prices are lowered

Cyclone football fans will be getting a break from the ISU Athletic Department after officials decided Thursday to offer some cheaper Insight.com Bowl tickets to students.

Tom Kroeschell, assistant athletic director for media relations, said ISU students will be able to choose between $25 and $48 tickets for the Dec. 28 game in Phoenix.

Students in line today will be able to take home $48 tickets at time of purchase, but they will have to wait over the weekend for the $25 tickets, he said.

“We’ve gotten some additional tickets from Insight.com that we are selling for $25,” Kroeschell said. “They can pick up the $25 tickets on Monday at the ISU ticket office.”

There will be 2,500 end-zone seating tickets available for $25, he said.

“The $48 seats will be seats between the 40- to 40-yard lines,” Kroeschell said.

Kroeschell said he believes there will not be a problem with students going home empty-handed.

“No one is not going to be able to get a seat,” he said. “There are plenty of seats available.”

The less-expensive ticket announcement came after University of Pittsburgh officials said they would offer their Phoenix-bound students tickets for $24.

“We thought that this year, being that the game was so far away, we would let students get their tickets for half price,” said Jason Lener, director of finance at the University of Pittsburgh.

Lener said Pittsburgh students will receive a voucher from the ticket office and will get their tickets once they arrive in Phoenix.

“It was a decision between the athletic director and the chancellor,” he said. “We [the athletic department] will be purchasing the other half.”
