Strait facts

In response to Amanda Knief’s review of George Strait’s performance on Saturday: Get your facts straight. She claimed George Strait’s performance left much to be desired and was outright boring.

I agree that the Chicks were a hot act, Tim McGraw was a show-stopper and Jo Dee Messina was very energetic, but those who appreciate George Strait were awed by him. He doesn’t fly around the stage and do funky dances to pump up the audience, but he has an awesome stage presence. He doesn’t just stand there and sing; he lives for the music, and I could just feel the emotion flowing as he sang his heartfelt ballads.

It’s the simplicity of Strait’s concerts that draws his fans. Just him and his guitar is all we need.

Another piece of information I found bogus was her statement that few people knew his songs, and he didn’t sing many of his recent hits. Do you even know what a George Strait album looks like? All but five of the songs he sang were from his last three albums. And when he comes out with a new album each year, that’s only the past three years of hits compared to his 20 or more years of producing chart-topping albums.

Get your facts straight before you publish such things in a paper that all of campus reads. Thousands of students went to the Country Music Festival and thought that it was the greatest concert of all time. I personally have been to three George Strait concerts and would pay much more than $60 just to see George. In my opinion, George Strait is the KING of country and always will be.
