Iowa State defeats Oklahoma 25-6

Iowa State wrestling battled against Oklahoma on Friday night against Oklahoma and ended up with its sixth dual win in a row by a team score of 25-6.

Redshirt sophomore Alex Mackall started the dual at 125 pounds against Oklahoma redshirt junior Christian Moody. Mackall earned his team three points with a 10-4 decision.

At 133 pounds, redshirt freshman Austin Gomez was down 2-0 after the first period but turned it around by earning eight points in the second period to top Tony Madrigal of Oklahoma, 8-2.

At 141 pounds, redshirt sophomore Ian Parker picked up a win by 4-3 decision over No. 11 Dom Demas in overtime.

Redshirt sophomore Jarrett Degen was the first Cyclone loss of the night by 12-5 decision to senior Davion Jeffries.

Redshirt junior Chase Straw lost another for the Cyclones by 9-7 decision to redshirt sophomore Justin Thomas which helped the Sooners cut the lead to 9-6.

After intermission, Cyclone freshman Logan Schumacher topped redshirt junior Hayden Hansen by 5-0 decision at 165 pounds.

At 174 pounds, redshirt freshman Marcus Coleman came back from a 12-0 deficit to beat redshirt freshman Anthony Mantanona 17-14.

Redshirt sophomore Samuel Colbray defeated redshirt senior Kayne MacCallum at 184 pounds by 14-4 major decision.

At 197 pounds, redshirt senior Willie Miklus won 6-5 over redshirt freshman Jake Woodley thanks to over three minutes of riding time.

At heavyweight, redshirt sophomore Gannon Gremmel won a bout over redshirt freshman Jake Boyd by 6-1 decision.

Iowa State heads to Stillwater, Oklahoma, next to take on Oklahoma State on Sunday.
