Day two of ‘wait-in’

The September 29th Movement completed its second day of an on-going “wait-in” of Iowa State President Martin Jischke’s office Tuesday.

Members and supporters of The Movement sat in Jischke’s office Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., when they were asked to leave or be subject to arrest.

“We have no interest in getting arrested, and we have not disrupted the business of the president’s office at all,” The Movement stated in a press release.

“We are students, and the president has said he will meet with student at any time. We are simply waiting until he will see us.”

But The Movement’s request went unanswered again on Tuesday.

Brian Johnson, spokesman for The Movement, said The Movement received Jischke’s final response Tuesday in another letter.

“Basically he said it’s [meeting with] Thomas Hill or nothing,” Johnson said. “He’s made his position, and so we’re going to stay in his office until the end of the week.”
