With loss to Baylor, Iowa State finishes Big 12 slate winless away from home

WACO, Texas (AP) — Brian Skinner scored 17 points in the final home game of his career, leading Baylor to a 69-54 victory over Iowa State and clinching the fifth seed for the Bears in next week’s Big 12 tournament.

Baylor (13-12, 8-7) opened with a 13-2 run enroute to a 32-22 halftime lead. The Cyclones (12-16, 5-10) never got closer than nine points in the second half.

Jerry Curry led the ISU with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, and Marcus Fizer added 14 points.

For Baylor, Gabe Ramirez backed Skinner with 12 points and Pat Hunter added 11 points.

Skinner had eight rebounds and five blocked shots, adding to his career school record in both.
