Hello, do you deliver?

Satisfying hunger cravings on Sunday nights when food service is closed can be hard for students living in the residence halls.

For those tired of pizza, the task grows more difficult.

Finding a place that delivers something different may seem challenging, but there are alternatives to boiling another package of Ramen noodles.

daVinci’s Pizza & Hoagies, 2514 Chamberlain St., offers 14 hot sandwiches to choose from, including Philly cheese steak, tuna, turkey and ham, said Kelly Dahm, an employee of daVinci’s.

With a minimum order of $7, delivery is free. Prices range from $3.50 for a six-inch sandwich to $5.50 for a 12-inch Philly cheese steak.

The three most popular sandwiches are the Philly cheese steak, veggie, and Italian, Dahm said.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, 108 Hayward Ave., offers 19 different cold sandwiches with chips, pickles and drinks. Most sandwiches are served on eight-inch French bread, but Jimmy John’s also offers a seven-grain sandwich that is three-and-one-half inches high.

Delivery takes 25 to 45 minutes depending on the weather, and the average delivery cost is 35 cents, said Tim Wright, manager of Jimmy John’s.

The most popular sandwich is the vegetarian, Wright said, though a variety of toppings, including turkey, ham, roast beef, provolone cheese, salami and alfalfa sprouts, is also available.

If students are not in the mood for cold or hot sandwiches, Jordan’s Chicago Style Hot Dogs, 131 Welch Ave., has regular-sized Chicago dogs and quarter-pound Chicago dogs made with real beef.

Kathy Vickers, co-owner of Jordan’s, said delivery is free for orders more than $7; otherwise, there is a 50 cent charge.

Jordan’s offers more than 13 kinds of hot dogs, as well as pickles, chips, nachos, mini corn dogs and pop.

They deliver on Sundays from 5 to 10 p.m. and Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Starting Nov. 17, Jordan’s is hoping to deliver from 5 p.m. to close, Vickers said.

Pizza Pit, 207-1/2 Welch Ave., offers not only pizza but also a variety of hot sandwiches, chicken wings, salad, chips and pop.

Tom Northrop, manager of Pizza Pit, said the average order leaves the store in 17 to 20 minutes.

Delivery is free with a $7 order or an $11 order with chicken wings, he said.

Valentino’s, 2500 Ferndale Ave., has combo, meatball, Philly cheese and hot ham and cheese sandwiches.

“Our most popular sandwich is the hot ham and cheese,” said Maggie Hills, an employee of Valentino’s.

“They come with chips and a pickle,” she said.

Delivery takes between 30 and 45 minutes and is free with a minimum order of $7.
