The Federal Bureau of Investigations were on scene conducting an operation at a house on the corner of 8th street and Grand Avenue on Tuesday.

At around 9:15 a.m. the FBI, Ames Police Department and other agencies raided 804 Grand Ave., said Ames PD Public Information Officer Jason Tuttle.

There is not threat to the public and there is no other information they are at liberty to comment on, said Special Agent Michele Stevenson, out of the Omaha, Neb. office of the FBI.

“Citizens of Ames should know the FBI will spare no resource in ensuring the safety of our communities or law enforcement personnel,” said Stevenson.

FBI agencies and Ames Police Department officers were on scene. Agents from Homeland Security and ICE were also seen on scene.

The Ames Police Department has a long history of collaborating with other law enforcement agencies, said Police Chief Chuck Cychosz, according to a press release.

“We realize this can be frustrating to our residents to not have details about a situation in their neighborhood, but any information about this incident must come from the FBI,” Cychosz said. “We’re confident they would let us know if there was an immediate risk to citizens.”
