The Writing and Media Center (WMC) is hosting a Featured Author Series, a three-part series to connect up-and-coming writers with published authors from across multiple genres.

The first event, a Nonfiction Publishing Panel, will take place over Zoom from 4-5 p.m. Monday. The panel will feature writers Ed Lyon, author of “Growing the Midwest Garden,” Dara T. Mathis, with bylines appearing in The New York Times, The Atlantic, Zora Magazine and Bitch Media and Katharine A. Burnett, author of “Cavaliers and Economists: Global Capitalism and the Development of Southern Literature, 1820-1860.”

From 2-3 p.m. April 9 via Zoom, there will be an Afternoon of Poetry with published poet and WMC graduate communication consultant, Allison Boyd Justus.

The series wraps up with “‘Hey! That’s My Book!’: Taking Your Writing from Distant Dream to Shelves” from 7-8:30 p.m. April 22 on Zoom. Authors Rachel Mans McKenny and Denise Williams will converse with participants about what it’s like to be a fiction writer and the processes that lead to seeing one’s own book on a shelf.

Those interested can register for the events at each of the events’ respective registrations. Click here to register for the Nonfiction Publishing Panel, here for the Afternoon of Poetry Panel and here for the Writing from Distant Dream to Shelves Panel.
