Karla Cherone Wallace, a 40-year-old woman from Waukesha, Wisconsin, has been arrested and charged with several felonies as a result of an investigation by the Ames Police Department into a shooting that took place Sunday morning.

Wallace was charged with controlled substance violation, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, dominion/control of a firearm by a felon and failure to affix a drug stamp, all of which are felonies, according to a news release from the Ames Police Department.

Wallace was also charged with a 3rd subsequent possession of the controlled substance marijuana and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, both of which are aggravated misdemeanors. Wallace was also charged with providing false identification information and reckless use of a firearm, both simple misdemeanors.

The Ames Police Department responded to a report of shots being fired at 10:39 a.m. Sunday at 204 Jewel Drive in Ames.

Upon arriving at the location, officers found shell casings. A witness told officers that a suspect was hiding under a car on the 3300 block of South Duff. The suspect was injured while fleeing the scene, but officers were able to track footprints in the snow. The weapon has been located.

“The shooting stems from an argument between two females. The suspect fired two shots in the air, and no one was injured, other than the suspect,” the release stated.

The suspect, who had an ankle injury, has been transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center.

There is no ongoing threat to the community, according to the release.
