What to know for RAGBRAI’s overnight stop in Ames

RAGBRAI is returning to Ames for its 50th anniversary and will be an overnight stop along the route on Tuesday, June 25.

Camping Locations

Main Campground (tent camping only): Brookside Park

Charters/Assigned Campgrounds: Brookside Park East, ISU field south of Lied Field, Iowa State Center Harvester Plaza, field southeast of Hilton Coliseum, Towers recreation fields, fields south of Towers, Stuart Smith Park West, ISU lot G6 (between South 4th Street and the Southeast Recreation Complex), Haunted Forest, ISU Research park and Ames Fitness Center

Support Vehicle Camping: ISU lots G2 and G3 (between University Boulevard and Worle Creek west of South 16th Street), ISU lot G4 and G5 (between Worle Creek and South 16th Street) and ISU lot G8 (between Christensen Drive, Patterson Hall, South Riverside Drive and South 16th Street)

Overflow Campgrounds: Ames Middle School, Stuart Smith Park East/Randall Lot and Ag Leader

Parking Locations

Main Campground Parking/Overflow Parking: ISU lot 112N (East of Haber Road near Frederiksen Court)

RV/Bus Parking: ISU Lot 63 (by Maple-Willow-Larch residence halls) and around Jack Trice Stadium (ISU Lots S3, S5, S6, S7 and S8)

Premium RV/Bus Parking: ISU lot G7 (east of the Southeast Recreation Complex)

Wednesday, June 26, day parking: ISU lots B1 and C1 (north of the Fischer Theater, Scheman Building and Hilton Coliseum)

Shuttle Stops

The Cardinal Shuttle route will run clockwise around stops at Ames City Hall, near the intersection of South 16th Street and Christensen Drive and South 4th Street north of the Southeast Recreation Complex. 

The Gold Shuttle route will run in both directions between stops near the intersections of Welch Avenue and Storm Street, Lincoln Way and Beach Avenue, and Ames City Hall.

The Silver Shuttle route will run between stops at Ames City Hall and near Collaboration Plaza by Ames Fitness Center and the ISU Economic Development Core Facility. 

Concert Schedule 

Main Stage on Main Street near Douglas Avenue: Danny Grause from 2 to 3 p.m., Stranger than Fiction from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Burnin’ Sensations from 6 to 8 p.m. and Hairball from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.

First National Bank Stage on Burnett Avenue near Main Street: Great Caesar’s Goat from 2 to 3 p.m., Foxpin from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Buckmiller/Schwager Band from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and The Cherrypickers from 9 to 11 p.m.

Miscellaneous 

Showers: State Gym and Lied Recreation Center ($10 for shower and towel), Furman Aquatic Center, Towers North ($8 for shower, $1 for towel) and ISU lot G10 (next to the Southeast Recreation Center service building)

Medical locations: Mary Greeley Medical Center, Downtown Ames and the Southeast Recreation Center

Emergency Shelters: Towers, Hilton Coliseum, Lied Recreation Center, ISU Veterinary Medical Research Institute
