In 2013, Colson Michael “Cole” Bennett created Lyrical Lemonade, which started as an Internet blog. Cole began directing several music videos for popular songs, including Lil Skies’ “Red Roses” and YBN Nahmir’s “Bounce Out with That.”
Cole directed the “Lucid Dreams” music video in 2018, which is Juice WRLD’snumber one song. This music video blew up and brought much attention and fame to Cole’s work. After “Lucid Dreams,” Cole worked with numerous artists, including Kayne West, J. Cole, Jack Harlow and many more.
In 2023, Cole started to drop singles for his album called “All Is Yellow.” This is his debut album, so there was a lot of talk about what it would be like. “Doomsday” was the first single released with Juice World and Cordae.
“All Is Yellow” features 35 famous artists, including Ski Mask the Slump God, Kid Cudi, Chief Keef and Lil Yachty. The number of artists in this album makes it feel a bit chaotic, as most of the artists don’t have much chemistry. But after listening to the album a few times, the disorganized feel of the music goes away, and it actually works very well in some of the songs.
The top songs on the album right now are “Say Ya Grace,” “This My Life,” “Doomsday Pt. 2” and “Equilibrium.” All four of these songs are rap-based, and most artists are chopping their lyrics. However, if fast rap is not your type of music, there is “Hummingbird” with UMI, SahBabii and Teezo Touchdown. This is a slower song, and I think it is one of the best in the album.
This album has a lot going on, but that is inevitable, with 35 artists cramped into 14 songs. With this being said, Cole created an album with well-liked artists and included them all in different ways. I enjoyed “All Is Yellow” because of the variety of songs and the 35 artists coming together to create something new.
