The Iowa State softball team is taking on No. 5 Oklahoma State in Ames Friday through Sunday.

The Cyclones finished the previous weekend going 0-3 against the Jayhawks. After losing three consecutive games, Iowa State took the win against DePaul with a score of 8-2 at home.

After a weekend of errors against Kansas, Iowa State came back and shaped up on offense and defense Tuesday.

The Cyclones will now be taking on tougher competition as they are playing one of the top teams in the country.

Oklahoma State made it to the Women’s College World Series in 2023. However, the Cowgirls lost to Florida State in the double-elimination round, who would later make it to the championship match against Oklahoma. Oklahoma State beat Utah to continue its run in the tournament and then lost to Tennessee to end its season.

The last time Iowa State and Oklahoma State matched up was in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The first two games of the weekend belonged to Oklahoma State, but Iowa State pulled through in the last game of the series. The Cyclones took the win 3-2 in 11 innings.

Oklahoma State is 34-6 overall and 12-3 in Big 12 conference play. Currently, the Cowgirls are on a six-game winning streak, as they recently took down Houston and Tulsa.

Iowa State and Oklahoma State will start play at 4 p.m. Friday at the Cyclone Sports Complex in Ames.

The two teams play again at 1 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. Sunday.
