The Cyclone women’s golf team will travel to Houston to compete in the Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship. The event will begin with the first day pairing Thursday and will continue into Saturday.
The Cyclones enter seeded as the No. 8 team in the Big 12 standings. The team will first tee off at 10 a.m., facing off with the No. 7 Kansas Jayhawks and No. 9 Kansas State Wildcats.
The women’s spring golf season opened back in early February at the UCF Challenge. There, the team tied for 10th out of the 18 teams. Both Kansas and UCF were also present at the event and placed ahead of them.
The team then participated in the Nexus Collegiate Invitational, where they put in an impressive performance. They tied for second place among 11 teams.
The Cyclones finished their February schedule by competing at The Chevron Collegiate. They tied for seventh place, finishing behind Big 12 rivals Texas Tech and Houston, but ahead of Oklahoma State and TCU.
The team then opened and closed the March portion of their season by tying for fourth at the MountainView Intercollegiate. They finished behind Houston, but ahead of Kansas State, TCU and Oklahoma.
Their final meet prior to the championship came when the Cyclones played at the Silverado Showdown. The team finished in 13th place among 16 teams. Liyana Durisic finished in a tie for fifth place during the competition.
Over the five spring meets, the Cyclones were led by Durisic in all but one of those meets, with that being the UCF Challenge. The highest individual placement came during the MountainView Intercollegiate where Durisic placed in a tie for fourth.
The Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship will open at 8 a.m. Thursday with competition continuing into the following two days. The final round can be found live on Big 12 Now through ESPN+.
