Boone, Iowa, wrapped up this year’s Farm Progress Show today. The event hosts over 600 exhibitors from around the world, making it the largest outdoor farm event, and alternates its location between Boone and Decatur, Illinois, each year. It is meant to showcase new innovations, products and companies in agriculture.
The event allows people to see the most recent equipment, seeds, crop chemicals, field demonstrations, livestock handling, equine events, ride-and-drive events, rural life programs and more.
It is not just an opportunity to buy new market items but also to create networking between people in the agriculture business and those who will benefit from it.
According to the Farm Progress Show website, they pride themselves on “providing a well-rounded show for farmers to connect and do business with a wide variety of exhibitors.”
Traci Rodemeyer, brand marketing and communication for Case IH, said that “the Farm Progress Show is the Super Bowl of farm shows.”
“The farm show is a great opportunity for Case and all other companies to put new equipment and technology on display,” Rodemeyer said. “People can get a beneficial hands-on display of new machinery.”
Case IH’s purpose for coming to the Farm Progress Show is to hear from people in the agriculture industry, specifically farmers.
“We bring our best resources, employees and experts to come to this show because we know our customers are here and want to ask questions and know more,” Rodemeyer said.
At the Farm Progress Show, Case IH displayed two new combines: the AF 9 & AF 10. According to Case IH, the AF series line offers one of the largest grain tank capacities and the highest unload rate in the industry. During the duration of the Farm Progress Show, Case IH also offered field demos of current and new products, for the viewing of people to fully perceive the machinery in action.
“The Farm Progress Show shows the innovation of this industry [and] the technology in all aspects,” Rodemeyer said. “The innovation and how far the agriculture industry has come to ultimately feed a growing population with less land is amazing.”
“The Farm Progress show allows us to highlight new products that we are bringing to the marketplace, as well as showcasing existing products that can bring farmers the competitive advantage for their operations,” said Eric Lerdal, a retail business representative at Syngenta.
Syngenta is a global agricultural technology company that primarily covers crop protection and seeds for farmers.
During the Farm Show, Syngenta released a new seed treatment that will be coming to the market in 2025. This treatment will help control yield and pests in Iowa and throughout the Midwest. It also has control over sudden death syndrome in soybeans.
“This is a game-changing tool we can provide farmers with,” Lerdal said.
The Farm Progress Show allows Syngenta to interact with customers, answer questions, and help them with farm operations.
“It’s a lot of great interaction with customers outside of the normal day-to-day farming operations,” Lerdal said.
Beck’s Hybrids is a fellow exhibitor at the Farm Progress Show. Beck’s was specifically selling corn, soybeans, wheat, alpha and cover crops.
Beck’s Hybrids was also advertising innovations in the agriculture industry: a planter that does seed treatment as the seed is planted.
They also advertised their new drone program, which had large-scale spray drones that could hold up to eighteen gallons in one drone.
Beck’s Hybrids chose to come to the Farm Progress Show for more branding and networking.
“For the most part, Beck’s is here for relationships, to see current customers and create new relationships,” said Mike Mehringer, senior event strategist at Beck’s. “The marketing we do at this show gets us a lot of leads that we can call on later.”
The next show is slated for Aug. 26, 2025, in Decatur, Illinois.

It would be nice to hear about Iowa State’s role in the Farm Progress Show, perhaps highlighting Extension and Outreach efforts. I know there was a lot of thought and time devoted to this event.
