Hyper Energy Bar will open in Ames before the start of the 2026 Fall semester. The business will introduce a sit-down concept for the first time.
“This is not meant to be like your local coffee shop that’s quiet—it’s gonna play loud music,” Dre Eslick, the creative rirector, said. “Might not be your study spot, but it will be like your hang-out spot.”
Hyper Energy Bar is a locally-owned drive-thru specializing in handcrafted energy drinks and coffee, according to Eslick. With a strong focus on community, they are aiming to bring people together and bring the hype.
Prices will be lower on opening day, and Hyper Energy Bar will donate all their first-day proceeds to the Ames Public Schools.
“Hopefully it’s a really huge and great turnout,” Eslick said. “We would like to beat our Iowa City fundraising amount.”
Already having several locations across the Des Moines metro, Hyper Energy Bar has built up excitement among ISU students. Some have even traveled to Ankeny, visiting the Hyper Energy Bar there.
“We have looked around Ames since we started and finally found the best spot,” Chris Whalen, the CEO of Hyper Energy Bar, said. “We are so hyped to unveil our first sit-down cafe. It’s a further embodiment of what Hyper is on the inside.”
The Ames location will be at 2320 Lincoln Way. To learn more about their menu, visit their website, or follow their instagram page for updates.
