Dear Cyclones,
Welcome back to campus! Whether you are returning to campus for your final year or stepping onto campus for the first time, I want to extend a heartfelt welcome back to campus on behalf of the entire Iowa State University Student Government!
My name is Colby Brandt, and I have the honor of serving as your Student Body President this year. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work with such a driven, talented and committed student body.
Iowa State is more than just a university: it’s a place to find your community, pursue your passions and discover your purpose. As we step into the new academic year, I challenge you to ask yourself: what brought you here? What inspires you? And most importantly, what type of difference do you want to make, not just in the classroom, but in our campus community?
Our student body is made up of some of the most talented, diverse and driven individuals I’ve ever met. You all bring something unique to the table. Whether you’re leading a student organization, working a campus job, conducting research or just trying to find your way, you belong here and your voice matters.
This year, your Student Government is working hard to make sure that every Cyclone feels safe, supported and involved. That means continuing to invest in mental health resources, advocating for increased support and creating more opportunities for students to get involved and impact change. If it matters to you, we want to hear about it and help make your vision a reality. If you want to learn more about Student Government, scan the QR code below!
Make this the year that you say yes. Go to that club meeting. Introduce yourself to the person in front of you in class. Take the class that scares you. Try, fail, learn and try again. That’s what it means to be a Cyclone.
We’re so glad you’re here. Welcome back to campus, Cyclones!
In cardinal and gold,
Colby Brandt
Iowa State Student Body President
