Iowa State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) is gearing up for its annual CALS Week, running Sept. 21-26.
The weeklong celebration highlights the college’s diversity and offers something for everyone, from professional networking opportunities to casual gatherings with plenty of free food.
While this year doesn’t follow a specific theme, the goal is clear: to showcase all that makes CALS special.
“We are super excited for our CALS Connect Career Mixer so that students can be exposed to companies that make our industry function,” Samuel Martin, a CALS Council representative, said. “Iowa State prides itself on the exposure to companies our students get, and companies love hiring our students.”
Beyond the events, CALS week is about building connections.
“It gives students an opportunity to connect with people across the college and not just within their own major,” Martin said. “There’s something for everyone, whether it’s professional or relaxed.”
Planning for the event started back in March, with the CALS week committee working through the summer to secure tents, food and entertainment. While many events are CALS traditions, this year’s concert and expanded career mixer are expected to be highlights.
