It has come to my attention that many on Iowa State’s campus don’t realize the Iowa State Daily is open to submissions. I would like to reiterate: The Daily’s opinion section is always open to submissions.
Any individual — student, faculty or staff — can submit an article to the Opinion section. This includes readers who are not connected to the university.
Not all submissions have to be political. Stances have ranged from why we should have more states to why you should join ISU’s Crochet Club.
Any organization (even off-campus) is also welcome to submit.
Recently, the Daily published a guest piece by Iowa Senator Herman Quirmbach, in which he expressed his beliefs about free speech and Charlie Kirk.
The Daily then published a second piece, written by Isaiah Alexander of ISU’s Turning Point USA chapter, responding to the senator’s article.
The Daily greatly appreciates this level of engagement from its readers. We would like to see more of this.
If you want to submit an article, here are a few guidelines: Aim for between 300 to 700 words. This is not a strict rule, but nonetheless advisable. Additionally, we ask that guest columnists submit a short bio to be included at the bottom of their article.
All submissions should be sent to [email protected].
