Davontrez R. McCuddin of Fort Dodge allegedly stabbed and killed a woman and a child Friday night. McCuddin has been charged with two counts of murder in the first degree, a Class A Felony punishable by a mandatory life sentence.
On Friday at 8:42 p.m., the Ames Police responded to a call at 3917 Tripp St. At the site, Ames PD found a woman and a child suffering numerous stab wounds. The woman and child were declared dead despite medical intervention from officers and medical staff.
Identities of the victims will be released following notification to the next of kin.
In January, the Fort Dodge Police declared McCuddin wanted for the attempted murder of a 36-year-old man who suffered several gun wounds.
Per court documents, McCuddins’ criminal history includes:

- Interference with official acts
- Assault on persons in certain occupations
- Tampering with a witness
- Possession of a controlled substance (marijuana)
- Ineligible to carry dangerous weapons
- Violation of probation – 1985 (six counts)
Per court documents, the court dismissed charges against McCuddin, including:
- Violation of a no-contact/protective order (four counts)
- Domestic abuse assault
- Child endangerment
- Escape from custody
- Disorderly conduct – fighting or violent behavior
- Operating under the influence
- Theft Fourth Degree
