Iowa State has found its replacement for departed assistant Neill Berry.

Dayton assistant coach James Kane has joined head coach Steve Prohm’s staff, the school announced Monday.

Since Berry left for Texas, there had been ample speculation that Kane would be the the one to fill Berry’s position. After all, Kane has a history with Prohm, having worked under Prohm for four seasons at Murray State. Prohm did not bring Kane to Iowa State for his initial staff, but Kane will get a chance to work under Prohm once again.

“I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to join the Iowa State Cyclone basketball staff,” said Kane in a press release. “I can’t wait to get to work and experience Hilton Magic.”

Kane comes to Iowa State from Dayton, where he spent the 2017-18 season working under coach Anthony Grant. Prior to Dayton, he had spent six years in total with Murray State.

Prohm was happy to be reunited with Kane.

“He is a guy that is integral to the success I’ve had over the years,” Prohm said. “He’ll have a big impact on our staff.”
