Iowa State adds its 13th commitment to the class of 2019

Iowa State football’s streak of commitments continued on Saturday. Offensive guard Darrell Simmons announced his commitment to Iowa State on Twitter.

According to 247Sports, Simmons took an unofficial visit on Saturday after receiving an offer from Iowa State on June 14.

Simmons is listed at 6-foot-3, 280-pounds on 247Sports.com. Simmons, an East St. Louis, Illinois, native, is ranked as the 56th best prospect in Illinois.

He was rated as a two-star by 247Sports and the 108th best guard in the nation.

Along with Iowa State’s offer, Simmons had offers from South Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Ohio and three other schools.

Iowa State’s class of 2019 sits at 13 commitments with Simmons’ commitment marking the seventh offensive player to commit.

A flurry of commitments have came this weekend after Simmons’ commitment, Aric Horne’s commitment on Friday and Aidan Bouman’s commitment on Thursday.
