DubH Hip Hop Club hosted a black light glow-in-the-dark dodgeball tournament called Dodge the Dark on April 20, to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).

As a group, DubH raised approximately $1,200 for LLS. Of this total, the group donated $800 from the ticket sales for their showcase this past weekend.

The group hosted the event to show support to a member who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2016. The Dodge the Dark theme was a way for participants to help bring light to the darkness of cancer by donating to LLS. Members from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Iowa Chapter were also in attendance to help the hip hop club host the event.

DubH’s event is one of only two Dodge the Dark events that have occurred in the United States to support LLS. The first event was at Purdue University a few weeks ago. There are plans for other universities to also host events within the coming year, as well as a second event hosted at Iowa State.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicate to curing blood cancer. All of the proceeds from Friday’s events will be sent to the organization to fund cancer research.
