Senior guard Emily Durr scored the Cyclones’ first nine points, and junior guard Bridget Carleton hit a 3-pointer to put the Cyclones up 12-8 midway through the first. Texas led 18-17 after one quarter, and the Longhorns began to take control of the game in the second.

Iowa State took a 29-28 lead with less than five minutes left in the half, but the Longhorns ended the half on an 11-1 run to take a 39-30 lead into halftime. Carleton led all players with 12 points at the break.

Texas came out firing in the third, scoring the first 14 points of the quarter and outscoring Iowa State 27-14 over the 10 minutes. The Cyclones found themselves in a 66-44 hole as the fourth quarter began.
