Role model, advocate, champion, pioneer.

These are just a few words that describe the women who will be featured on the Women Impacting ISU Calendar.

Since 2007, 12 women have the honor of being featured in the Women Impacting ISU Calendar each year.

History and Nomination/Selection Process

The calendar was initiated by the Catt Associates student leadership organization and is funded by Iowa State’s Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion.

It was originally created as a tribute to “current students, faculty and staff who distinguished themselves through their accomplishments at Iowa State University,” the Carrie Chapman Catt Center’s website states.

The honorees are selected through a committee comprised of representatives from the Catt Center student programs, previous calendar honorees and members of the Iowa State community.

Any woman who is currently employed by Iowa State or who is currently a student is eligible to be nominated for the calendar.

“We are looking for women who have impacted Iowa State through campus involvement, in the classroom or community relationships, and inspire women of all generations,” the Catt Center’s website states.

The committee evaluates the packets and deliberate for four hours over the course of two meetings to make the final selection.

“I was grateful to serve on the Women Impacting ISU Calendar selection committee,” said Brooke Almasi, senior in public relations from Cedar Rapids, to the Catt Center. “I loved reading the nominations of inspiring women who are working to create an innovative and welcoming environment at Iowa State.”

The poster-size calendar features pictures of the honorees along with a short description of their achievements.

2018 Honorees

Kristine Perkins, public relations and student programs coordinator for the Catt Center who oversees the project, stated that 70 women were nominated for the 2018 calendar.
