In the semifinals of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off tournament, Iowa State men’s basketball defeated Tulsa in a close 80-78 win.

The Cyclones had a 16-point lead at one point in the second half, but a 14-0 run by Tulsa shrunk that lead entirely. Iowa State led 39-30 at the half after an 11-0 run for the Cyclones in the middle of the first half.

Guards Donovan Jackson and Nick Weiler-Babb carried the team once again with 24 and 20 points tonight. Along with the points, Weiler-Babb had 14 rebounds and eight assists, while Jackson had three assists and two steals.

Besides the two point guards, Jakolby Long showed off with 17 points, while going 4-for-6 on the 3-point line.

The Cyclones shot 44.3 percent (27-for-61) around the floor, 42.9 percent (12-for-28) for the 3-point line and 70 percent (14-for-20) from the free-throw line.

Iowa State will take on Boise State on Sunday night at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
