Student Government will discuss nearly $100,000 in funding requests during its meeting Wednesday evening.

The $80,000 — if approved by the senate — would go toward the Student Carillonneur Leadership Council to be able to construct a 1:5 scale replica of the Campanile.

“The SCLC’s purpose is to fundraise, construct and maintain a replica model of the Iowa State University’s Campanile-carillon,” according to the act. “The 27-bell carillon will be transportable, accessible and functional for students to learn and enjoy.”

The $80,000 would be transferred from Student Government’s Special Projects Account.

Currently, there is about $495,000 in the Special Projects Account according to StuGov finance director Steven Valentino.

The senate will also discuss funding $17,000 to go toward updating the Memorial Union broadcasting software and hardware.

According to the act, the current technology the Memorial Union AV Department owns is outdated.

The equipment the department is requesting includes cameras, cables, video switchers and tripods.

Additional funding requests include:

  • $4,300 to the Black Student Alliance for its Winter Formal
  • and $212 to ISU Table Tennis Club for a divisional tournament in Minnesota

The senate will also discuss seating a new senator, Julie Bothell, to the Graduate and Professional Student Senate position.

Rules committee may also seat a senator, Kylee Cox, should the senate approve.

The senate will also hear from Dean Beth McNeil of Parks Library and the Student Government Big 12 Conference during its program.
