After dominating Kansas State in Ames, the Iowa State Cyclones attempted to replicate its success against the Wildcats in Manhattan, Kansas.

The Cyclones managed to sweep the Wildcats again on Wednesday (25-18, 26-24, 25-23).

In the first set, the Cyclones held a 9-2 advantage over the Wildcats. Iowa State was able to hang on with juniors Grace Lazard and Jess Schaben combining for 11 kills in the set.

Kansas State lingered around longer in the second set, eventually forcing extra points in the set. After an attack error from Lazard, the Wildcats trailed 19-16.

Kansas State would claw its way back into the set, tying it at 24. Freshman blocker Avery Rhodes and Lazard would smash two straight kills to clinch the set for Iowa State.

The Wildcats wouldn’t go down easy. After a slew of Cyclone errors, Kansas State would capitalize, grabbing a 9-5 lead in the third set.

Iowa State coach Christy Johnson-Lynch called a timeout that would benefit the Cyclones. Iowa State heated up, tying the set at 10.

After the set was knotted up at 10, both teams were locked in. The rest of the set would see 12 ties, but an Avery Rhodes block sealed the set for Iowa State.
