Landscape Architecture

The Landscape Architecture Building is pictured in 1913 and in 2017, both from the southwest. There is much more foliage in the present day photo. The sidewalks have since been repaved and a sign added to the front of the building.

The Landscape Architecture building was funded $12,000 in 1900 and constructed in 1901, according to the Iowa State Digital Repository. It was built to replace the original horse barn, which was built in 1870.

This building features architecture not usually common for barns, including a gabled roof, dormers and a large ventilated copula.

It was originally used as one of three horse barns.

It was remodeled in 1930 for the Landscape Architecture Department, and the classrooms and offices remain in use by multiple departments today.
