StuGov to debate SafeRide, Wrestling Club funding

Alex Connor

The Student Government will revisit the prospect of funding the driver wage for the SafeRide ISU program during its meeting Wednesday night.

The senate voted to postpone discussion on the legislation during last week’s meeting, after some senators felt there was a lack of information about what the driver wage of $34,000 will exactly fund.

According to a bill introduced by Sen. Connor Theisen and Sen. Wyatt Scheu, the Iowa State Police Department – which operates SafeRide ISU – has already purchased a vehicle to expand the program, but is requesting support from Student Government to fund the student wage.

Student Government will also hear from Iowa State’s PrISUm Team during its program.

The senate will debate whether to fund $27.98 to Iowa State’s Wrestling Club for the use of a 15 passenger van to attend a dual at Simpson College in October.

To be introduced at the meeting under new business is a financial agreement between Student Government and the Cyclone Disc Golf Club that would give the organization $853.42 that would have to be repaid to Student Government in $224.13 installments for four semesters.
