Cyclone Hockey released its 38-game 2017-18 season schedule early Tuesday morning.

Coming off of a season where the team won its conference regular season and tournament championships, the Cyclones look to take home the big prize this winter.

“Last year we achieved two goals that Cyclone Hockey had not achieved in a number of years, winning the regular season championship and the tournament championship,” Coach Jason Fairman said in a release. “We’ll look to defend both of those titles and those will be two of our priorities in our four goals for the season.”

Cyclone Hockey will open the season with a intrasquad scrimmage instead of its usual matchup with the Huntsville Havoc.

“The Huntsville Havoc is looking at taking a year off from our annual series with them to start the season,” Fairman said. “They’re focusing on their main camp and doing that rather than having the camp in Ames and then having the main camp as well.”

The Cyclones will then open their season against Illinois State with the first official game on Friday, September 23.

The Cyclones non-conference slate will include home games against top ACHA teams Minot State and Central Oklahoma.

As for the CSCHL conference, Cyclone Hockey will get to face three conference opponents in a row at the end of January.
