Game 1: Doerrfeld Promotions 108, Hinterland 105

After having the luxury of a bye last week, Doerrfeld Promotions faced a tough matchup to get into the championship.

Doerrfeld leaned heavily on its Drake and Iowa State players. Drake guards DeAnte McMurray and Jalen Gibbs both scored 26 points.

Iowa State’s Solomon Young and Terrence Lewis finished with solid nights. After shaking off some rust, the duo combined for 38 points and 17 rebounds.

On the flip side, Hinterland utilized Donovan Jackson and Matt Tiby effectively.

Tiby finished with a double-double, while Jackson scored 41 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Game 2: Sparta Waste Services 111, Des Moines Outreach Lions Club 108

Cap City League saw a new face for the first time.

Lindell Wigginton made his debut.

Wigginton provided a boost to his squad throughout the game, stuffing the stat sheet.

Wigginton contributed 36 points, nine rebounds, six assists, three steals, and two blocks.

The five-star recruit also showcased his athleticism. In the first half, Wigginton viciously rejected a Marial Shayok shot attempt.

Later in the half, Wigginton soared by defenders on a putback attempt and slammed it through the hoop.

In the second half, Wigginton’s mid-range game started to heat up. Wigginton nailed multiple jump shots in a row, while maintaining his gritty defense.

Wigginton had the championship game on his mind, but Shayok and Cameron Lard had other ideas.

Lard finished the night with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Shayok had 44 points and seven rebounds.
