Game 1: Hannah Homes 122, Doerrfeld Promotions 120 OT

The final regular season night in Cap City League started with a bang.

Doerrfeld Promotions held a comfortable lead throughout the first half. After halftime, Hannah Homes’ Michael Jacobson took control.

Doerrfeld Promotions, playing without Solomon Young, was unable to match Jacobson’s size. Jacobson continued his double-double streak, scoring 29 points and adding 13 rebounds.

Doerrfeld Promotions’ Terrence Lewis maintained his consistency Thursday. The freshman scored 29 points and snagged nine rebounds.

Game 2: Sparta Waste Services 142, Hinterland 12. 

The second game of the night was a high-scoring shootout.

Sparta Waste Services’ Marial Shayok added to his case for Cap City League MVP, scoring 54 points. Shayok also contributed seven rebounds and five assists.

Shayok’s teammate, Cameron Lard, carried some of the load, as well. Lard recorded a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. 

Hinterland cut the deficit to single digits late in the game, but an authoritative Cameron Lard dunk sealed the win for Sparta Waste Services.

Hinterland’s Donovan Jackson flirted with a triple-double. Jackson tallied 44 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

Game 3: Des Moines Outreach Lions Club 121, JayTees Apparel 117

The final regular season game was a nail biter. JayTees five man team came up just short of securing its first win of the Cap City League.

Nick Weiler-Babb shouldered most of the load for JayTees Apparel. Weiler-Babb finished with a triple-double. Weiler-Babb led the game in points (45) and assists (13).

Des Moines Outreach Lions Club did have its top pick, Lindell Wigginton, in the building. Wigginton sat out as a precautionary. Wigginton suffered a concussion in the FIBA U19 Tournament, but he competed later on after the concussion.

Drake’s Nick McGlynn dominated, scoring 40 points and snatching 22 rebounds for the Des Moines Outreach Lions Club.
