No. 13 Baylor (35-6, 8-1 Big 12) softball defeated Iowa State (15-27, 0-9 Big 12) Sunday, completing a weekend series sweep over the Cyclones.

Iowa State looked better than it had all weekend, but ultimately came up short against the Bears.

The Cyclones took their first lead of the series in the top of the second inning. Iowa State took advantage of two Baylor errors in the inning that allowed Kelsey McFarland to score.

Baylor would respond in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs to take the lead.

Sami Williams and Kaila Konz both scored in the top of the third to tie the game up for the Cyclones.

The Bears would once again find an answer for the Cyclones’ runs, as Baylor put two more runs across the plate in the bottom half of the inning to regain the lead, 5-3.

Baylor would add four more runs to their lead over the next three innings to gain a six run advantage heading into the final inning.

Iowa State put on their rally caps in the top of the seventh, scoring three runs to cut the Baylor lead to three. The Cyclones would not be able to bring it any closer as they fell to the Bears, 9-6.

Iowa State has a quick turnaround before they travel to Des Moines Tuesday for an in-state matchup with Drake. First pitch against the Bulldogs is scheduled for 4 p.m.
