Although Cyclone Hockey’s Division One team was eliminated from play in Columbus, OH; the D-III team is ready to try and make their run at the National Tournament.

The team opened their pool play taking on the Fairfield Stags on Tuesday, winning the matchup 6-1.

The Cyclones came out firing, scoring two goals in the first period thanks to Alex Grose and Tommy Hanson. They went into the first intermission leading 2-0.

In the second, Grose assisted Conner Lee on the only goal scored in the middle frame, giving the Cyclones a 3-0 lead heading into the third period.

Fairfield countered in the third period, however, scoring first and trailing 3-1 early. However, it would be too little, too late, for Fairfield.

Cyclone Hockey scored three more goals in the third from Jeremy Szczurek, Hanson, and Lee, giving the team the 6-1 win.

The Cyclones, who were a one seed, take on the other favorite in their pool tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. when they face Aquinas.
